Aims of the department

The department’s and  university's purposes are compatible. Both of them aim to create a suitable environment for students who would like to get used from the university’s academic programs and its social and cultural services. They, also, aim to prepare students who like to study living beings theoretically and practically at the main bioscience disciplines. Through the available efforts and scientific devices, this department aims to serve the local society. In addition to that, it always connects and cooperates with local and international universities in order to contribute in popularizing the practical knowledge locally and globally.

Conditions of acceptance

  • Having a scientific baccalaureate by 1800 degree at least.
  • Applying to the system of the university’s acceptance.
 

Preferable skills

  • To have logical and statistical processes skills to be used in formulating and testing biological hypothesis.
  • To have the necessary technical skills to be used in contemporary biological researches.
  • The ability to communicate well with others to popularize knowledge and sciences.
  • Graduate students will be able to compete in the fields of higher studies, education, health care, and industrial biological technology.

1st year
principles of chemical bonding and molecular structure,  and their application to the chemistry of representative elements of the periodic system.
 -classification of compounds based on their properties. Partly ,the position in the periodic table of the heaviest element (the element with the highest atomic weight) in the compound
Theories of electronic structure, stereochemistry, and symmetry properties of inorganic molecules. Topics: ionic and covalent interactions, electron-deficient bonding, and molecular orbital theories.

The theoretical part : introduction about classification of plants, production of new individuals in plants, which can be accomplished by sexual or asexual reproduction.
Reproduction of viruses & cyanobacteria(blue-green algae.
Algae: sexual and asexual reproduction ,lifecycles ,phases of nuclear.
Fungi: reproduction and Life cycles of ( molds ,imperfect fungi , ascomycetes….etc )and  Gymnosperms .
The practical part : study about the root, stem anatomy structure of monocotyledons and dicotyledons

plant-environment interaction.  life cycles and processes of plant .  instruction in cell and molecular biology; plant nutrition; plant respiration; plant growth, behavior, photosynthesis; plant systems.
Fundamental processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, plant nutrition,  functions of plant hormone,,, photoperiodism, photo morphogenesis, , environmental stress physiology, seed germination, dormancy and stomata function and transpiration, both parts of plant water relations,   plant physiologists.

The theoretical part :  finds, identifies, describes, classifies, and names plants.-- Classification criteria. basis of Scientific label, herbarium.
-plant species :study of array ,describing the cultivated plants of particular regions (horticultural floras); herbaria and other information about cultivated plants.
The practical part : General concepts about plant, trek field _ Keys of taxonomy ( genus ,species, family)

The practical part : study sxamples of bryophyte ( anthoceros, funaria, polytricum, hypnum…) and of pteridophyta ( bsilotum, selaginalla, equiseturn…) , examples of gymnosperms ( ginkgo, pin laricio, cycas , zamia , ephedra ….)

Curriculum Practical: the use of floral diagrams - the use of pollens and pores  in distinguishing some species of Angiosperms- the definition and classification of fifty species of Angiosperms  in Syria - round field to study the flora of the Mediterranean coast Syrian.
