Nature of work

A high school biology teacher teaches biology basics to high school students at private and public schools. Heshe develops engaging curricula, including lab experiments and other scientific investigations; presents lessons and evaluates student performance. Heshe also sets and enforces guidelines for classroom behavior and arrange parent-teacher conferences when needed. A teacher educates students between the ages of 11 and 18 from a National Curriculum subject area. Heshe is employed within public and private schools. Heshe teaches courses in biological sciences. Environment of work

A teacher generally works school hours, usually from 8.00am until 1.30, but most teachers are in school before the school day starts and remain after school is finished. Marking and preparation are usually done at home. Heshe often spends time in the evenings and on weekends grading assignments, preparing lessons, or advising student organizations. Heshe may meet with parents, students, and other teachers before and after school. Heshe works the traditional 10 month school year, with a 2 month break during the summer.
