Nature of work
Quality is defined by how well a product or service meets the needs of its users. Information quality (IQ) is a term used to describe the quality of the content of information systems and to know the quality of the system. He/she should look at these three major areas, Data Quality, Information Delivery System quality, Knowledge Management quality.Typical duties include:
• Managing a group of quality assurance analysts/ testers and directing their work.
• Establishing quality assurance and/or quality control policies in accordance with best practices and defining benchmarks and measures.
• Preparing budget and staffing plans and recommendations.
• Ensuring proper coordination and collaboration with technical teams.
• Developing and executing software test plans
• Identifying and facilitating issue resolution with functional and technical groups
• Managing software beta test programs.
• Documenting test results.
Environment of work
Physical Work Demands:- Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
- Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
Mental Work Demands:
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Should be able to prioritized, schedule and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules.
- A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required.
- Hours regularly exceed 40 hours per week.
- Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
Professional life
Range of typical starting salaries: 35000 SYP plus potential bonuses.
Getting the job
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline teamed with several years of experience in a QA environment are typical requirements, although work experience can sometimes be substituted for formal education.However, employers may prefer qualifications in subjects such as business studies/management, materials science/technology, food science/technology, textile technology, polymer science/technology, process engineering, physics, mathematics or production engineering.
For some positions a postgraduate qualification or a technical background may be beneficial. Relevant work experience is highly desirable and may be gained via final year project work, work shadowing, sponsorship, vacation work or 'year out' placements.
Skills
Candidates for QA analyst/ tester positions should have excellent problem solving skills along with keen attention to detail and the ability to communicate with clients, colleagues and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely. A candidate should have also the following skills:- A logical, analytical and creative approach to problems.
- An ability to learn new skills and technologies quickly.
- An awareness of current issues affecting the industry and its technologies.
