Aims of the department

The department of Banking and Insurance in the Faculty of Economics aims to:
  • Qualify students in theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of financial economics and banking to meet the dynamic needs of labor market locally and globally.
  • Qualify and train staffs who are specialized in banking and finance technics.
  • Train students to be able to understand and use modern technics and their applications in banking and finance technic.
  • Support the students’ innovative abilities to be used in the fields of banking and finance technics.
  • Build the scientific personality of students.
  • Contribute in training courses responding to the community needs to necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Strengthen the cultural and scientific relations with universities and scientific councils especially the Arabic ones.
  • Build a high level of interaction between the college and society’s economic and social institutions to connect the university with society. 

Conditions of acceptance

  • Having a good rated bachelor degree in Economics- BankingandInsurance specialization- from one of the governmental universities in Syrian Arab Republic or from an equivalent faculty or institute authorized by the university council in the Ministry of Higher Education.
  • Passing the exam of foreign language

  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • To be competitive and accurate.
  • To have financial analyses and prices analyses skills.
  • The ability to analyze stock indexes, financial policies, interest rate, and securities
