Nature of work

The Budget manager is responsible for contents of job profile such as: job purpose, fundamental resbonsibilities and tasks  and related documents of Budget manager.

The Budget Manager also has to ensure operational and strategic direction and accountability; links unit operations to strategic objectives; exercises authority for unit policy and procedures and operational decisions for departments;having the  influence upon organizational and community relations to develop and achieve strategic goals and manage customer relations.

Basic functions of Budget manager could be summarized in the following :

 

  Interpret budget directives and establish policies for carrying out directives.

  Compile and analyze accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement a program.

  Testify before examining and fund-granting authorities, clarifying and promoting the proposed budgets.

  Analyze monthly department budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls.

  Direct the preparation of regular and special budget reports.

  Consult with managers to ensure that budget adjustments are made in accordance with program changes.

 

Environment of work

Budget manager Frequently handles emergency or crisis situations  where  he/she should be ready to reply  interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries. Further, they should be prapered for quite workload becouse noise isn’t allowed at work.

Budget manager usually works standard office hours, although weekend work or overtime may be required at certain times of the year. Busy periods may occur when processing end-of-month accounts and at the beginning and end of the financial year.

Work is mainly office-based. Work environment and conditions vary according to the employer.

Getting the job

For accessing the job candidates need bachelor's degree in finance; accounting; business, judicial or public administration; or related field and five years of experience in budgeting or general finance analyst work would be propably  enough to inter this work moreover ;you need to be familiar with the following :.
  knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  in-depth knowledge and experience of calculation and processing
  managerial/supervisory experience
  knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules and laws
solid financial acumen
