Nature of work

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. He/she supervises five staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. He/she also will have contact with senior-level attorneys and the firm’s Executive Director and Controller which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

-Obtaining and maintaining a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

-Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.

-Ensuring the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

-Assisting the Controller in the daily banking requirements.

-Supporting budget and forecasting activities.

-Collaborating with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

 

Environment of work

Account manager usually works standard office hours, although weekend work or overtime may be required at certain times of the year. Busy periods may occur when processing end-of-month accounts and at the beginning and end of the financial year.

Work is mainly office-based. Work environment and conditions vary according to the employer. Account manager may handles emergency or crisis situations  where  he/she should be ready to reply  interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries. Further, they should be prepared for quite workload because noise isn’t allowed at work.

Many local, national and international corporations hire accounts managers to maintain contact with their customers. These managers can fall into several occupational categories, such as 'sales managers' or 'advertising, promotions and marketing managers.

The key for the advancement at work is gaining more and more relevant experience in a range of settings (and operations of different sizes). Besides, it is essential to develop the key personal skills and qualities relevant to this area of work.

The average monthly salary of account manager is 50000 SYP.

Getting the job

Most accounts manager positions require at least a bachelor's degree. A popular program for aspiring accounts managers is the Bachelor of Business Administration , which generally includes classes in accounting, advertising, communications, finance, management and marketing. Accounts managers who hope to advance in their fields might go on to pursue an MBA.

Additionally, experience in the field in which an accounts manager is employed is essential when creating business plans. Accounts managers can have backgrounds in customer service, administration or sales.
