Nature of work

An administrative controller ensures that financial reports and summaries are accurate and filed with governing authorities in a timely manner. Regularly reviewing capital expenditures as well as operating costs is necessary to efficiently control the bank's budget. He/she also supervises employees who are assigned finance and accounting duties.

The scope of administrative controller position is much larger in a small business, where the position is also responsible for cash management and risk management. In a larger company, these added responsibilities are shifted to a treasurer and chief financial officer, respectively.
His/her main duties:
-Managing  outsourced functions.
-Overseeing the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
-Ensuring that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
-Ensuring that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
-Ensuring that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
-Issuing timely and complete financial statements.
-Coordinating the preparation of the corporate annual report.

Environment of work

He/she primarily works  in an office. It will be expected to travel as needed to company branches, as well as to potential acquires to conduct due diligence. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.

Professional life

A qualified administrative controller who broaden his/her knowledge of a company's operations and enhance his/her skills may be promoted to senior or executive secretary or clerical supervisor, or office manager. With additional training, many legal secretaries become paralegals.
The average yearly salary for administrative controller is 30000 SYP.

Getting the job

Most controller positions require graduate degrees and more than five years of experience in banking or financial services

Skills

Since the controller has multiple responsibilities, time and project management abilities are necessary. Math and accounting skills facilitate accurate analysis of financial records and statements. Personnel administration skills are needed to train and supervise employees.
