Nature of work

He/she works independently tostudy beneficial insects’ types and strains, prepare propagation and care programs, prepare products collecting programs and oversee the implementation and evaluation. He/sheprepares bid specification and requirements, prepares technical reports, manages, develops their skills, and provides requirements of occupational safety and health.
The tasks are:
  • Studyinginsects classification, useful strains, and behaviorsto take theireconomic and environmental advantages
  • Preparing appropriate place conditions for the propagation
  • Preparing nutrition methods and time programs
  • Developing propagation methods
  • Preparing pest control programs and supervising the implementation and evaluation.
  • Developing modern technology for propagation, breeding and production
  • Preparing the insect production collection programs and overseeing its storage process.
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Developing the working methods by using modern techniques.
  • Preparingbid stipulations and studying them financially and technically
  • Evaluating the subordinates performance to identify their training needs and train them to  improve their skills.
  • Providing occupational safety and health requirements

Environment of work

  • Work environmentranges between the field, field trips and laboratory to test the product quality and work in the production mills.
  • Working independently is possible in case of experience consultation and in private production farms.
  • He/she may work as a team memberin improving the specification of nectar plants to raise the medical value of bees production
  • He /she should work to find drought resistance nectar plants and plant them to feed bees
  • He /she should work on finding optimum conditions for rearing silkworms
  • He /she should work on securing bees feed the whole year
  • working in this area requires full protective clothes to wear especially during honey collection and hives check up
  • Full time job is required.
  • This job can be carried out by men and women.
  • This job sometimes requires to travel abroad for training in order to gain other countries experiences

Professional life

  • He/she can practice his work independently or as a team member in private or public sectors.
  • The salary in public sector will be at least 20000 Syrian bounds
  • He /she should coordinate with researches centers to apply academic and practical researches for honey and bees breeding and silkworms. He can do that  by understanding and following up the techniques that can increase the production and reduce the costs while preserve the environment 
  • He can gain beneficial insects modern academic and practice experiences through various training courses, seminars, and activities.
  • He/she can develop the work methods by using modern techniques
  • Work on subordinates performance evaluation to identify their training needs, and train them to  improve their skills.
  • He/she may travel abroad for training in order to gain other countries experiences

Getting the job

  • For getting this  job, the person has to study in Agriculture Faculty, Department of Essential Sciences, or Department of Plant Protection
  • The students during that should get some related courses such as: Plant Taxonomy, Agricultural Pests, Plants Species in addition to food industries, and some other academic and practical agricultural courses, and foreign languages, computer programming, engineering quality knowledge.
  • Preferably, Agriculture Faculty graduat students pursue their graduated program studies in the Department of Plant Protection to get their master's and Ph.D. degrees.

  • Ability to understand insect life cycle and its development, propagation, and productivity
  • Ability to develop a detailed specification for each type of honey compared to internationalstandards
  • Ability to study the international markets and the product marketing and work on creating a special fund for the development of global conferences and exhibitions participation to export the product
  • Knowledge in the insect harmful pesticides types to avoid using
  • Knowledge in nectar plants and their growth and flowering seasons
  • Knowledge in bee pests Classification to identify methods of appropriate prevention and treatment
  • Ability to harvest, sort honey, and get various bee products to determine fraud honey
  • Ability to work on increasing opportunities for cooperation to develop friendship bonds between the beekeepers in the world
  • Ability to apply Knowledge and skills to solve agricultural production problems
  • Ability to propose solutions according to the need of environment preservation
  • Ability to work according to sustainable development principles of the agriculture sector
